One wise man was looking for shelter and food in the village. No one wanted to help him. Even though he had a harmless appearance and a kind and calm atmosphere surrounded him, the people in that village turned out to be cruel and unkind and did not want to let a stranger in just for one night.
Meanwhile, the night was expected to be cold, but the sage had no choice but to sit under a tree and cover himself with what he had - a blanket and some spare clothes. But despite this, he was not at all saddened and, as he always did before going to bed, he began to pray with these words:
“God! I still thank you, even if I didn’t receive anything from these people, and I’ll have to spend the night under this tree on such a cold night! ”
A man who also lived in this village was passing by him at that moment, and he knew that this sage was denied shelter. And he asked him:
“Well, what are you thanking Him for?” People did the right thing by driving you away because your prayer is insincere and you yourself are also a liar.”
The wise man laughed at him and answered him:
“You just don’t understand anything in this life. If that night I have to be under a tree, without food, and without shelter, then this is the best situation for me at the moment. It couldn't just happen - there must be a reason for that. It means it will somehow help me, it is necessary for me - it means it is necessary for something. God knows much better than I do, and somehow it will be better for me."
In our opinion, this is the most correct attitude to life. When you celebrate and give thanks even for sadness and adversity, you stop depending on this situation, and this is what transforms the negativity that we use when we experience such cases. A negative attitude creates a barrier between us and God’s solution for the situation. It is very important to learn this approach: Remember, everything always happens for the best.
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Psalm 91:1-2 NKJV
